Opening Saturday 18 January from 2pm until 7pm
Less than two years ago Gallery Hioco Delany entered Antwerp’s dynamic and competitive art scene. In this short time, the exhibition space established itself as a social hotspot and an accessible platform for developing artists and collectors alike. For the first exhibition of 2025, the gallery invites a staggering set of fifteen artists, welcoming you to a vibrant and anarchic playground of creativity.
Titled THE ORDER OF CHAOS, the exhibition brings together a diverse range of works, including painting, sculpture, and mixed media by Jolijn Baeckelandt, Deborah Bowmann, Penelope Deltour, Chris Gillis, Max Kesteloot, Daan Peeters, Romy Streep, Meri Toivanen, Florian Tomballe, Benny Van den Meulengracht-Vrancx, Noa Verborgh, Noa Verkeyn, Ewoud Viane, Tom Volkaert and Davide Zulli.
At first glance, the pieces in the exhibition appear to be disconnected. The group of artists seem to share no common ground. What is left is a brawl between materials, styles and concepts. The deliberate disharmony reflects the state of today’s art world, where institutes shape the narrative and determine who deserves recognition. Rather than imposing a singular concept, THE ORDER OF CHAOS embraces the anarchy in the unpredictable art scene.
The artworks on display range from rugged sculptures to ethereal painting, making the exhibition an exhibition of contrasts: playful versus sincere, organic and natural versus geometric and artificial, figurative versus abstract. The juxtaposition in this exhibition is intended to spark dialogue, not only between the work themselves but also among viewers and artists.
Gallery Hioco Delany envisions itself as more than just white walls. Like any good bar, the gallery space serves as a meeting point, a communal space where people can connect. For artists, networking can be a challenging task. Gallery Hioco Delany hopes to offer a relaxed environment where creative minds, both new and established, can inspire and mingle with one another. By placing the works of young talent next to more seasoned voices, THE ORDER OF CHAOS encourages a thought-provoking conversation between works, artists and the art viewer.
